we're getting married!
That's right! Bertalan David III and Janice Lynn Duffy are getting married on Saturday, October 5, 2002.
This will mark our 7th year being together.
wedding updates:

More pictures are up! We've got some Rehearsal
pictures from the Duffy's as well pictures from the golf outing the morning
of the wedding. I have to admit, I think that was a great idea. The 3
groomsmen, Pete, Jon and Matt, the 2 ushers, Chris and Steve, the two
dad's, Bert and Jim, and I all went out golfing. We played the Strategic
Fox at Fox Hill's Country Club. It was a par 3, which meant there was enough
time to get in a round of 18, and it was very challenging.
The honeymoon pictures are finally up! I finally
found time to go through them and delete the really bad pics. I think there
are around 900 pictures, so have fun looking!

Yes, Janice and I made it back in one piece! We had the most wonderful time visiting Ft. Lauderdale, sailing aboard the Carnival Victory in the Western Caribbean and making stops at Cozumel and Costa Maya, Mexico and Ocho Rios, Jamaica. The tours were fun, the food was great and we met some really nice people. I'm sure we'll tell you more about it when we see you, and if we don't, you can probably catch a rundown of the trip that Janice and/or I am planning to write, so that in about 5 years when I forget what we did, I can remember! This won't be done at least until next week. I know that Janice and I have both been really tired because a vacation is no place for rest! That and I've got a lot of homework to catch up on since I've been gone a week. As far as the honeymoon pictures go, they're great. I'll put them up online once I'm done going through them and removing what we don't need/want, etc….
Janice picked up the proofs today of the wedding pictures from the photographer. The pictures are just beautiful. We'll be making the rounds soon with these proofs and with the album we are putting together of pictures from the table cameras. I may get around to putting some of the proofs online, but who know if/when I'll get around to that!

Hey! It's 3:30 AM on Friday! I'm up, getting ready to leave! The limo's supposed to arrive around 5:00am to take us to the airport, where our flight for Miami, FL leaves at 7:00am. Yes, that's right, we've got a limo picking us up. Kinda crazy but we do. We actually won a "free limo" gift certificate at Janice's company picnic this summer. Wanna know how we won it? We're water balloon champs! We rock! Best water balloon tossers ever! Anyways, what better way to use it than to come pick us up for a trip to the airport? Who else would really want to drive us this early?
On to the good stuff now. I've put up a link to an online album that Charlene put up for us. I've also put some pictures and some small movies that Joe took w/ his camera. Thanks to both!
The pictures came back today, so Janice, I am my mother looked through them. There not as bad as I thought they would be. :) Actually, some of them are pretty darn good. At least when my children ask what the pattern of the carpet was in the hall, we can give them a definitive answer. That, and there's a few pictures of someone's nipple! Overall, we have some really good pictures of our friends and family. I'm not sure yet if I'm going to put them all online. I would like to, but there's over 800 prints and I don't know if I'd like to scan them all in. Maybe I'll put some friends to work! :) We did order doubles for that reason though so we can give a bunch away. We are also planning on putting together an album with all of these pictures, which we'll eventually take on "tour".
Well, I'm going to get back to waiting. I'm excited….

Janice and I would like to thank everyone who was able to attend our ceremony and/or reception, and those of you who were there in spirit. I don't think we could have asked for a more perfect and beautiful day! Overall the whole weekend was way too short, although, I do have to admit both mornings came around a bit too quickly for me!
I took the disposable cameras in to get developed the other day. Technically I should be able to pick them all up today after work and before I pack for our honeymoon. I'm excited to see *most* of them! Kind of scarred about some though. :) Either way, Janice and I are looking forward to them.
For those of you with camera at the rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception or even the morning after, please send us copies, whether print or digital, on cd, in the mail, on via email, if you can. We'd like to see them all! We'll post as many as we can on our website.
I hope that this one post will satisfy most people until we come back from our honeymoon and post more. We'll keep you updated on our adventures...

Jon, Steve and I picked up our tuxes today and Janice, Karen and Kristy joined us.
I didn't have too much trouble with mine, although they did have to lengthen the pants.
If you ask me, I think we're going to look pretty darn good on Saturday.
Earlier today I called the DJ and rental place to finalize and confirm everything.
I also called to confirm our tee times at Fox Hills. That's right! The dad's, brothers,
groomsmen and I are going golfing Saturday monring before the wedding. I figured
we're having the reception at a country club, so why not? It'll be nice and relaxing
before the wedding, unless of course you golf like me!
On another note, the reception is now going until 12:30 am. For those of you who need/want
rides back to the hotel (Courtyard Marriot of Livonia) after the reception, we will be providing them.
Just ask Pete, Kristy or I about the details. If anyone else is in need of a ride, please
don't hesitate to ask.
So, tomorrow we go through the motions! :)

Wow! I can't believe it. We've got less than a week left to change our minds!
(Don't worry, I'm just kidding, and I'm really looking forward to the big day!)
Janice and I (mostly Janice) have finished all of the favors and table seating
tonight. That's due at the reception hall tomorrow along with a nice big fat
check! I think we've got our songs picked out for the wedding as well. I'll
probably post them once I know for sure. I'm also picking up our marriage license
tomorrow morning and dropping off Janice's rings to get soldered before this
weekend. Looks like things are coming together just fine, since there's really
no time to panic!
I'd also like to give some thanks and props to all of my boys who made it out
this past weekend for my day, especially my best man Pete. I don't think I could
have asked for anything better. I hope all of you had a great and memorable time.
I know that I did. Thanks again.

I had a great time at my bachelorette party! Kristy and company did a wonderful job
putting together games and activities for a slumber party theme. One of my
favorites was the questionnaire she had put together and asked Bert and then I
had to guess what his answers were. We had lots of good laughs. Thanks to all
my girls who came out to celebrate with me.

Janice and I finished our last precana meeting (Catholic name for marriage preparation or something I like to call 'pre-marital' counseling, which most different religions/churches have) tonight! It was meeting 2 of 2. What we had to do for ours is meet (informally) with a married couple from the church. We were paired up with a very nice couple, Ken and Claudia. In this meeting, we had to talk and also take a "test". This test covered everything from marriage, kids and religion to personal, sexual and financial issues. The test itself was one of those scantron tests like we took in high school (and even college) a lot, and was then scored by the Catholic Church somewhere. The second meeting with the couple, we discussed our scores and questions that we a) answered differently from each other, or b) answered differently than the church expected us to. Some of the questions were difficult to understand, and worded poorly. We think it was just to get you talking. Anyhow, we apparently did really well, the best that couple has ever seen, and we don't have to go back for another meeting! (Not that it was bad or anything. In fact, it was very interesting, but we're finally done with another part of the wedding planning!)
Janice and I also meet with the photographer, well, the photographers assistant today at LaMoore Photography Studio. We've heard a lot of good things about them, and were happy when we went to visit them, although, I don't think their website does justice to them. This should be the last time we have to meet or talk with them until the big day. We just had to give them some information about the wedding party and family information, times for the ceremony and reception, and other details. Oh yeah, and give them another check!

I'm not sure you'll all understand. Maybe it'll get some laughs though, or it
might just be one of those "You had to be there" things. Anyways, at the shower
this past weekend, Janice received this cute
card. However, if you take a
look at it from the inside,
it's a different story. I saw a puzzled and shocked look on Janice's face. She then became
relieved after she figured it out and quickly showed me the card. I was in taken back
when I first saw it, and then amused. It's funny. Maybe you had to be there.
Thank you Maddie!

Just a quick note: bd3.net will be down sometime this week.
We are getting a faster connection sometime this week, and
when it happens, the site should only be down 24 to 48 hours...
technically.

I would just like to say thank you to all of those who joined us this past
weekend (08.25.2002) for our wedding shower. We had a wonderful time, and
received a lot of great stuff! Janice will be writing more in the next
few days. I just wanted to post this pictures on our
photos page that I had from the shower. I'll let you know when
I get the rest of the pics.
I've also posted the pictured from Janice's Pennsylvania shower. You can
find them on the photos page as well.

Janice and I went to yet another beautiful and wonderful wedding this past weekend, and again had ourselves and incredible time. Our friends Aaron Ormond and Brandy Taylor were married and had their reception at the Weller's Carriage House in Saline Michigan, and I've got pictures to prove it! Their wedding took place outside in the gardens, and luckily the weather was just about perfect. You couldn't ask for anything better. And their recessional accompanied by Dean Martin singing "Ain't That a Kick in the Head" was a very nice touch. I can't believe it. We're all getting married off. Who's next? Congratulations and Best of luck Aaron and Brandy!
Also, today Janice and I spent most of the day, yes, marking more invitations. Apparently the first 150 we made just weren't enough. Thanks again to all who helped put that first bunch together, we really appreciate it! We've also got that first batch ready to be mailed. They'll be sent out Monday… hopefully.

I had a wonderful trip to Pennsylvania! The shower was a lot of fun. Bert and
I got lots of goodies. Thank you to everyone. I got to meet my little
cousin for the first time. Abby is a year old and cute as a button. Erik
celebrated his third birthday while we were there. Other then being extremely
hot out, we had a good time watching Erik play in the slip and slide.

Janice was so happy yesterday. We finally bought her wedding band. I do have to say it's very very pretty. Very pretty and very petit for her hands. I have to go pick it up this coming Monday. I'm sure she'll try it on no less than once every day before the wedding! Well, that's at least one more item we can check off on our list of "things to do" for our wedding. I'm still haven't picked up mine yet. I think I know what I want though, so it won't be too much longer before that's done.
I also wanted to point out that we've updated some information on the site, such as the events and travel pages.

This past weekend Janice and I went to a wedding. Actually, I stood up in the wedding for a friend of mine, Nick. There are some pictures here taken by another one of my fiends, Joe, if you'd like to see them. We had great food and a wonderful time. The biggest and only misfortune that I know about was a button that fell off of my tux jacket right before the ceremony was going to begin. I don't think anyone even noticed :O) I can only hope that our wedding goes so well.
Congratulations Nick and Emily!!!

Janice has been hard at work starting all of those invitations. We decided
to make them ourselves. Don't worry, they'll look nice. I almost wanted to
put some of the designs we had come up with online so you could help us pick, but
I changed my mind. I decided it probably should be a surprise! Anyone
interested in helping out? You'll get a sneak peek!

We are registered! We spent many hours in Target
and Crate and
Barrel picking out our favorite items that we would like to have
when we begin our married life. Both registries are available online.
We know some of the items on our list are a little outrageous, but it's
a wish list and we wished for some stuff we know we may never get.
Hopefully you have as much fun looking at our list as we did putting it
together.

We have decided to take on the task of making the invitations ourselves. The
ones I really wanted were too expensive. It will definately be interesting,
hopefully I won't hate the invitations by the time I'm done.
Brides maid dresses have been picked out and ordered. They are really pretty.
Thank you Kristy for your help.
We are trying to decide what to do about video taping the wedding, if anyone
has any suggestions or referals please let us know.

We still haven't picked out our invitations for the wedding yet.
I think we're getting close to deciding though.
We stopped by twelve oaks mall today and took a look at all of the invitations that papyrus had to offer.
We really enjoyed some of them, but we're also trying to stay within a budget :)

Well, if you haven't noticed, which you probably won't, i've finally put our wedding site up online today.
